Dr Spencer is an experienced and well respected GP, working as a medical professional for over three decades. As an Australian trained doctor, his career has included posts in Perth, Port Headland, Derby and Esperance, where he established a thriving medical practice as the Principal GP.
John completed his studies at the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery and began his training at Royal Perth Hospital and Hollywood Hospital. This was followed by a number of years at King Edward Memorial Hospital and Osborne Park Hospital where he obtained anaesthesia training and a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and later advanced Diploma of obstetrics.
As part of the WA Rural General Practice Training Scheme, John made the sea change to Esperance where he practiced as a GP, further honing his skills in rural medicine and community healthcare. This experience laid the groundwork for his subsequent endeavours where he established an accredited general practice with admitting rights to Esperance Hospital. He provided obstetric and women’s health care, anaesthesia & emergency medicine while working in Esperance.
Dr Spencer has also completed additional training in skin cancer detection, treatment and skin cancer surgery, including excision, grafts and flap surgery.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, John has been actively engaged in medical education and training. Throughout his career, he has maintained a steadfast dedication to his patients, providing compassionate and personalised care across a spectrum of medical specialties.
